My Teacher Story
I teach because I believe in the power of visual storytelling and creative expression to help students better understand themselves and the world around them. As someone who has always been passionate about art, especially photography, graphic design, and printmaking, I have found joy in guiding others through the process of finding their own artistic voice. I value student choice, individuality, and the belief that every student has something worth saying. I am especially drawn to art education because it encourages risk-taking, problem-solving, and self-reflection in ways that traditional subjects sometimes cannot. My goal is to create a space where students feel safe to express, explore, and evolve.

Student Teaching Experience Overview
My student teaching experience was both challenging and rewarding. I had the opportunity to teach at two very different schools, including a high school and a rural elementary IB school with a TAB (Teaching for Artistic Behavior) philosophy. These experiences expanded my understanding of classroom dynamics, student needs, and differentiated instruction. Professionally, I have become more confident in lesson planning, classroom management, and aligning creative freedom with learning standards. Personally, I learned a lot about patience, flexibility, and trusting the process. Seeing students make connections and take pride in their work reminded me why I chose this path in the first place.

Moving Forward
As I transition into my career, I will carry forward the belief that students thrive when they feel ownership of their learning. I plan to continue fostering an environment rooted in choice, inquiry, and reflection. My student teaching experience helped me refine how I balance structure with creative freedom and how I adapt my instruction to support a variety of learners. I also learned the value of collaboration with students, colleagues, and families and will continue to seek feedback and growth as both an educator and an artist.
